avr webserver network card problem

hi ,have built the elektor webserver ,all works fine ,server .config runs ok,however the network will not respond to a ping,the cards link led is on ,and the card configures ok on start up,has anybody got any sugetions as to the problem

Hello Ray,
I have just completed the Elektor kit too.
I initially had a few problems setting the Fuse bits in the mega644 as they were not specified in the project. However I did have the same problem that you are seeing.
I thought that the card was configured correctly and that the card was initialised in the web server. In the end I had to remove the on-board EEPROM and make the links on the RTL8019AS as specified in the extra documentation on this web site under the Web Server section. You have to make sure that pin 65 and 64 are wired correctly when the EEPROM is removed. Having done this the card performs ok.

By the way, as you can see this is a German forum but I did get answers by posting the questions in German having used Google translation tool! Works ok both in and out of German.

hi ,thanks for that ,can you tell me where the information is you spoke of,is it in english i found a pdf file on the main site page,but could not translate it,is this the info you spoke of

Yes it is the pdf file in German. It shows the mods to the network card. Basically pin 64 should be grounded and pin65 connected to Vcc using say a 10K resistor. By the way I found that the interface card must use a RTL8019AS not a RTL8019 as I first tried as this did not work at all although it should be backward compatible with the older RTL8019 part.

hi ,thanks phill,can u tell me to what pin description does pin 64 and 65 relate to is it a15 and a16,not quite sure how the card pins are numbetred,and in what order

I was referring to the chip pins on the RTL8019AS not the board edge connector.

hi phill,i realise now after seing the picture that it is the chip,i have removed the eeprom and linked pin 64 to 0volt and 65 to vcc,but it still wont work the stange thing now is the link light is on then i conect the network cable and then it goes out
